Progress to the Intermediate Level of Islamic Scholarship

Year 3 marks an important transition in the student’s journey through the traditional Islamic sciences. Having established a foundation in Arabic language and Fiqh, students now begin to engage with more advanced legal theory, classical jurisprudence, Hadith, and Tafsir.

This year develops analytical thinking, strengthens the ability to understand scholarly discussions, and introduces students to the methodologies used by jurists and scholars throughout Islamic history.

Designed for serious students of knowledge, Year 3 combines legal studies, principles of jurisprudence, Hadith, and Qur’anic exegesis within a structured and accessible weekend programme.

What You Will Study

Sharh al-Wiqayah

One of the most important intermediate Hanafi Fiqh texts, covering detailed rulings and legal discussions that develop a student’s understanding of jurisprudence.

Usul al-Shashi

A foundational text in the principles of Islamic jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh), introducing the methodologies scholars use to derive rulings from the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Kafiyah

A classical Arabic grammar text that advances the student’s understanding of syntax and prepares them for reading more complex scholarly works.

Mukhtasar Riyad al-Salihin

A study of selected Hadiths focusing on worship, character, spirituality, and practical guidance for daily life.

Tafsir al-Jalalayn

An introduction to one of the most widely studied classical commentaries of the Qur’an, helping students develop the skills needed for understanding Qur’anic interpretation.
